Few match John
Beauclair's more than three decades of experience as a foreman
and superintendent in heavy construction.
Starting with
the Douglas Point nuclear plant in 1968, John developed special
expertise in excavation and road building while supervising site
development for major highway, mining and power projects in Canada
and the United States.
He joined DCL
Construction Inc. as superintendent in 1997, after holding similar
positions with C.A. Pitts Ltd. (1968-80), Kidco Holdings Ltd. (1980-84)
and Ledcor Industries Ltd. (1985-97).
He oversaw DCL's
$30-million in contracts at the Suncor's Millennium project in Fort
McMurray, Alberta. Most noteworthy was the completion of $9.5-million-worth
of work on the shear key at the Wood Creek Dam where DCL successfully
excavated and placed 2.7 million m3 of material within
five months.
Recently, he
directed work on site development, tailings and diversion dams at
the Kemess Mine in British Columbia. John has supervised major irrigation
and hydroelectric projects in Alberta and Manitoba. He was a superintendent
on Ontario's $1.2-billion Highway 407. The six-lane, 66-kilometre
stretch of toll highway required handling 15 million m3
of excavation, 1.2 million m3 of concrete road bases
and five million tonnes of road gravel.
John's on-site
presence ensures expectations and timelines are met.
